Saturday, Oct. 25, at Granite Rose, Hampstead, N.H., 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Portsmouth Scarlett O'Hatters' return with their annual Fashion Show, Luncheon, vendors and entertainment. Wii, The Game: Thanks to the Friends of the COA the Senior Center now has the Wii. We have the following games: baseball, golf, boxing, tennis, bowling and the new Wii Fit. The games are played on a large-screen TV at the Senior Center. Wii will be scheduled for Monday afternoons at 1, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, 9-11.
Painting Classes with Beverly Mitchell. Classes will be on Thursdays from 1:30-4 p.m. The cost is $5 per class.
Additional exercise classes will also be held on Fridays. Classes are on Friday, 9:30 -10:30 a.m. The cost is $3 per class.
Elder Services: RiverWalk 6K Walk & Run, Sunday, Oct. 5 at 10 a.m.
Volunteers Opportunities: Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley is seeking Volunteers for the Friends in Deed program. Volunteers will help improve the daily lives of older adults in a variety of ways including companionship, food shopping, running errands, taking elders on outings, and giving rides to medical appointments. Elder Services is a private, non-profit agency serving the 23 cities and towns of the Merrimack Valley. We provide older adults with in-home services, basic necessities, emergency assistance, programs and education which allow them the choice to remain in their homes. Trip slide show: Monday, Oct. 27, 12:30 p.m. A Yankee Line, Inc. will present a slide show on a trip scheduled for February 2009, the 26th Annual Daytona Beach 2009 Winter Activity and Show Tour at the Ocean Walk Resort. Highlights: condo apartments, optional activity itinerary, including: entertainment, dinner shows, party nights; optional trips including state park picnics, boat trips, shopping shuttles, theme parks, and of course bingo. Choose to travel by Yankee Line deluxe coach or by plane.
Document shredding available: The Friends of the Merrimac COA have generously purchased and donated a heavy duty shredder that will shred paper, credit cards and DVDs. There will be 15-minute time slots on Fridays, between 9 and noon. Call the Senior Center or stop by to reserve a time.
