On Wednesday, and after months of review, the Conservation Commission approved the state Department of Conservation and Recreation's beach management plan for Salisbury Beach.

Salisbury Conservation Agent Michelle Rowden said the plan was approved "with accolades," from Conservation Commission member Iora Alexander.

The plan discusses the state's actions to keep the beach in good health and includes methodology for its upkeep on a daily basis as well as its long-term health. Erosion control, beach nourishment, the planting of dune grass and erection of snow fencing, as well as care for boardwalks and maintenance of public access points were all part of the plan.

Selectmen âóòJerry Klima said DCR did a wonderful job and that Salisbury is lucky to have such a strong partner in beach management.

For copies of the plan, contact Rowden, whose office is located in the Planning Department on the first floor of Town Hall.
