The Newburyport Public Library is pleased to offer a self-defense program to the women of the community.
Taught by instructors from the Newburyport Police Department, R.A.D. (Rape Aggression Defense) training will instruct women in self defense that is easy to learn, easy to remember and relatively easy to employ during confrontational situations.
The series of classes will begin on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., and will meet the following three Thursdays in November in the Newburyport Public Library program room.
The program is sponsored in part by the Friends of the Library. There is a $15 suggested donation for materials and training. Space is limited. Sign-ups begin on Oct. 14
