SHINE seminar: Thursday, Nov. 12, noon. The seminar presents valuable information about Medicare Advantage plans, drug plans, extra help for possible Part D change in 2010. With deadlines coming up and changes expected, it's recommended senior citizens attend the meeting presented by Elder Services SHINE supervisor Susan Cripps.

Alzheimer's National Memory Screening Day: Tuesday, Nov. 17, at noon. This program offers senior citizens one-to-one memory screenings with Merrimack Valley Elder Service and Home Instead Senior Care professionals. The screening takes about 10 minutes. Following the screening, a discussion will be led by Fran Larkin concerning Alzheimer's lessons learned. This discussion will help increase awareness of Alzheimer's disease, including recognizing the onset/symptoms, care options, changes to diet, health and exercises, legal preparation/decisions and resources available to the patients and family.
