The Rowley Fire Department will dedicate its newest fire truck, an emergency one typhoon pumper truck, during a brief ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 14 at 1:30 p.m. at the firehouse on Hammond Street. The truck, which is being dedicated to the 14 original members of the Rowley Volunteer Fire Protection Association, will be called "Charter Hose Company #1."

"Because of the funding support from the town, we were able to purchase this truck, which makes us positioned to provide the best possible service mechanically to the town of Rowley," said fire Chief James Broderick. The truck was purchased using funds that were appropriated by town residents at last year's Town Meeting. With this purchase, the department, which has three full-time and 27 volunteer firefighters, now has three pumper trucks, one ladder truck, two brush trucks and three support vehicles.

The Rowley Public Library will be displaying sculpture from Nature's Harvest during the month of November. Local artist Judith Kamber, who creates the sculpture from hard shell gourds, showcases vessels and spiritual masks in her exhibit. Kamber gets her inspiration from the fact that hard shell gourds, which are found all over the world, are often associated with spiritual significance. When not engrossed in her artistic pursuits, Kamber is an administrator at the Northern Essex¬ Community College. For more information on the exhibit, contact the library at 978-948-2850.
