High Tail Acres wins Mass. Farm Bureau honors

NEWBURY — The Massachusetts Farm Bureau Federation recently honored High Tail Acres farm with the designation of "2009 Horse Farm of Distinction." High Tail Acres is a training, lesson, boarding and show stable at the end of High Tail Lane in Newbury. The 6,000-member Massachusetts Farm Bureau Federation represents farmers involved in all facets of agriculture. The "Horse Farm of Distinction," program was begun in 1990 to recognize and present to the public those horse farms and stables that set high standards and achieve a level of excellence in overall horse health, farm management and compliance with public safety.

Ellrott earns highest level of certification

ROWLEY — Thomas Ellrott of Szczechowicz Landscape Services Inc. has attained the highest level of certification in the landscape profession within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Ellrott recently passed the Massachusetts Certified Landscape Professional examination. This designation was established by the Associated Landscape Contractors of Massachetts Inc. to test candidates on their knowledge of landscapes care.

Carey honored with NECC Employee Recognition Award

AMESBURY — Amesbury resident Julie Carey recently received the Northern Essex Community College Employee Recognition Award. The Employee Recognition Award was started by NECC President David Hartleb, as a way to recognize the many and varied contributions of the college's nearly 700 employees. Employees are selected each quarter based on recommendations from supervisors and co-workers. Recipients receive a $100 certificate to the restaurant or mall of their choice. Carey is an administrative assistant in humanities and social sciences and graduated from Newburyport High School and Northern Essex Community College.

Ward named co-chairman

AMESBURY — John F. Ward was recently named co-chairman of the International Intellectual Property Law Committee of the Intellectual Property Law Section of the Boston Bar Association. The International Intellectual Property Law Committee brings together practitioners and others concerned with the state of intellectual property in multiple countries. Ward is Global Trademark Counsel at Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostics Inc., a 1984 alum of the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and a 1992 alum of the University of Illinois College of Law.

Mansfield new vice president of Client Services

AMESBURY — McDougall & Duval Advertising recently announced that Janet Mansfield joined the firm as vice president of Client Services. In this role, Mansfield will manage some of the agency's top clients and introduce new processes and procedures based on the best practices she has garnered through nearly 15 years in advertising. Prior to joining McDougall and Duval, Mansfield worked at several of the region's top advertising and marketing firms, progressively expanding her roles and responsibilities.

The crew used their favorite Benjamin Moore paints and added faux finish to the cutting and color room, and a fresh coat of paint to the salon.
