Letter: St. Arnault is best choice for Newbury

Fri, May 16 2008

To the editor:

Steve St. Arnault, candidate for Newbury selectman, is competent and a truly honest man. He understands the need for professional management and fiscal responsibility in Newbury. He believes all residents, even those who have differing opinions, should be treated in an appropriate and respectful manner.

Surveys of Newbury residents list maintaining the historic, rural character of the community as a priority. One way to maintain this character is to preserve the landscape that makes this quality possible. Steve St. Arnault, candidate for Newbury selectman, understands this. Steve's opponent was the only selectman to oppose the acquisition, at no expense to the town, of the Coffin Island parcel in the project to protect the historic landscape of the Common Pasture. Steve's opponent said the town already had too much open space, denying the importance of this to the rural character of the town.

There are issues in Newbury Town Hall relating to citizenship and statesmanship that need to be addressed. Steve St. Arnault will bring personal integrity to the position of selectman. It's time for a change. Support Steve St. Arnault.
