To the editor:

This year's Anna Jaques Buffett on the Beach party to benefit the creation of comprehensive cancer care provided by Anna Jaques and Commonwealth Hematology at the new Commonwealth Cancer Center drew more than 300 attendees to the big tent at the Salisbury Beach Reservation.

For the past four years we have co-chaired the themed beach parties to benefit many different services at the hospital such as the Fast Track Emergency Department, digital mammography, surgical services and each year major sponsors and volunteers step up to the plate to keep our community hospital up to date with the latest advancements in medical treatment. Although the country is experiencing a very weak economy, our loyal sponsors have made this year's event one of our most successful to date raising more than $90,000. We want to take this opportunity to pay a special thank you to the following:

The Drueding Foundation, The Kennard L. Bowlen Charitable Trust, Institution For Savings, TD Banknorth, N.A., The Provident Bank, Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank, Newburyport Development LLC, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, Castagna Construction Corp., Chase and Lunt Insurance Agency, Inc., Commonwealth Hematology Oncology, PC, FPL Seabrook Station, Strem Chemicals, Inc., SPS New England, Kindred Healthcare, Mercer, Dan Abdulla and Mark Moquin, Esq., Frederick and Donna Abdulla, The Green Company, Henschel, Inc., Mark Richey Woodworking and Design, Minco Corp., Northeast Dermatology Associates, Pentucket Medical Associates, Inc., Seward Investments, Seacoast Pathology, Inc.
