Time for country to return to its roots

To the editor:

I awake each day distraught over the fact that yet another distressing event has happened pointing to the inevitable demise of the United States as we have known it. Is it possible that the public will accept what happened in a sleepy little town in N.H. as a reason to call for a return to the nation we once were?

There has been a relentless erosion of morals and values of society in general and the American family in particular. The American middle class is almost gone due to the over-taxation of their income, which forced mothers from their most important duty of raising their children. So we now have parents who were not raised properly not raising their children properly — what a surprise! They are busy keeping up with their neighbors' standard of living and working to pay for things they don't really need and can't afford, therefore allowing the government school system to continue to be their full-time baby sitter and fail to educate the children of our nation. The school allows no discipline, and the parents are too busy working to keep their taxes high enough to support the government, which is intent on enslaving us all in hopes that they will be able to maintain their position high up on the feeding chain and survive. But it will be the end of freedom for the rest of us.

We need to start paying attention to what our elected officials are doing to us but not themselves. Let me know the next time they pass a new program that is good for us that they are also involved with.

We have Social Security, they don't play. We have Medicare, they don't play. We are now awaiting a new health insurance plan that they haven't read and most certainly they won't be playing. Is it too much to ask that those who are writing our laws should have at least read them before they vote? Could we get a report on any high-level officials who send their children to public schools? Don't hold your breath, as our employees expect us to treat them better than we treat ourselves.

We have very serious problems to face, and there is no chance that the characters who caused them will come up with a solution, as they are the problem. We'd best start paying attention and look for new people to attend to our interests instead of their own.

Prior to the 2008 elections, the media and most of our elected representatives laughed at Ron Paul and his conservative agenda and wholeheartedly supported Barack Obama. Do you think we may have been sold the wrong agenda?
