Triton's Souliotis earns first coaching victory

Boys Basketball

Triton 80, Fellowship 32

First-year coach Ryan Souliotis recorded his first win as Triton's coach. Senior Tom Bashaw led the scoring attack with 18 points, including four 3-pointers. Charles Anderson added 15 points, four assists and four steals. Matt Musto had 12 points.

"We were too athletic for them," Souliotis said. "We're hoping this game will serve as a springboard for us. We'd like to add a couple more over the next few weeks."

Governor's 55, BB&N 41

The Govs led 28-22 at halftime and had 24 total assists in the game.

Girls Basketball

Amesbury 52, Rockport 21

Dana Zahoruiko led Amesbury with 14 points. Her sister, Deryn, added 13 points and 10 rebounds. Rebecca Crochiere had seven points and eight steals.

Governor's 41, BB&N 29

Alexa Balboni led the Govs (4-1, 2-1) with 17 points. M.L. DiNisco tallied 12 points, five assists and seven steals. Ceci Reyes added seven rebounds, and Becca Block prevented BB&N's leading scorer from impacting the game.

Girls Hockey

Governor's 5, Groton 0

Kate Leary scored four goals for the Govs. Kelsey Duryea added a goal. Alex Carpenter and Alanna McDonough had two assists each. Abbey Karin, Kelly Lavallee and Molly Houston had assists. Jill Conway and Auriana Johnson combined on the shutout.

Wrestling

Milton 48, Governor's 31

Terrance Jean-Jacques, Lyle Nelson and Ray Boghos won by pin. Jeff Lamson (9-2) and Pat Diamond (10-0) won by decision.

Belmont Hill 66, Governor's 9

George Tsakirigis won by pin. Terrance Jean-Jacques won by decision (4-2).

Youth Basketball

The Immaculate Conception boys are 4-4 after last week's 48-46 loss to St. Pius of Lynn. Ryan Connelly led IC with 18 points. Will Raven added 10. Jack Horgan, Charlie St. Pierre, Matt Kirpas and Jan Ten Eck played well.

The seventh- and eighth-grade girls team is 3-6 after a win over St. Mary's of Lynn. Kendra Dow, Grace Dastous and Jean Bower are leading the Lady Pelicans.

The fifth- and sixth-grade boys are 2-5. Nate Grunbeck, Jacob Yish, Nathaniel Norton and McGrath Bissaillon are playing well in their first seasons.

The fifth- and sixth-grade girls are 7-1. Morgan Johnston, Isabel Bernansky, Trudi Lynch, Julia Schlich and Rachel Connelly are contributing. Katie Ann Hayes and Emily Wood are playing well for the junior varsity.

The IC Newburyport Boys Basketball Association team is led by Zach Tierney, Marco Carnovale and Adam Woo.
