Modlish, Pentucket pull off walkoff victory

Baseball

Pentucket 8, Lynnfield 7

Peter Creamer was 2 for 3 with a run scored for Pentucket (4-4). He also sparked a seventh-inning rally with a leadoff double. Bobby DiSorbo pinch ran for Creamer and scored on Chris Modlish's walkoff double. Modlish had three RBIs on the day. Bobby Maguire (2 innings, 2 runs allowed) earned the win. Harry Shipps (2 for 4, 2 RBIs), Sean Milley (2 for 4, 2 runs) and Daniel Johanson (2 for 3) had multihit games.

Amesbury 11, Georgetown 7

Steve Serwon (2 for 4, 2 runs scored) and James Parady (2 for 4, run scored) paced Amesbury (2-7). Chris Cassidy scored two runs for the Indians. Georgetown pitcher Andrew Sinkewicz (22/3 innings, 3 earned runs) took the loss. Andrew Conti was 3 for 4 with a runs scored for the Royals (7-3). Sinkewicz had a home run. Jeff Rollins was 3 for 4 with two RBIs.

Ipswich 5, Triton 4

Cam Kneeland had two home runs for Triton (4-4). Ipswich freshman Will Corkum pitched 2 2/3 inning of hitless relief to earn the victory.

Softball

Rockport 8, Newburyport 0

Rockport's Tia Nelson who tossed a no-hitter and fanned 14. Newburyport's Ashley Rowe allowed six earned runs. The Clippers fell to 3-6.

Boys Lacrosse

Triton 8, Ipswich 6

Chris LeSage had five goals and an assist for Triton (5-4). Paul Bishop tallied a goal and three assists. Caleb Woodworth added two goals. Will Joy had two assists. Ben Mantarian had one. Carson True made eight saves. Triton trailed 3-1 at halftime.

"We started poorly," said Viking coach Donna Andersen. "We were really flat. But in the second half we executed and finished with poise."

Girls Lacrosse

Triton 12, North Reading 6

Erin Curley led Triton (6-3) with four goals. Sarah Nardone added two goals and an assist. Colleen Gargan scored two goals. Erin Loughlin and Sarah Peterson had a goal and an assist each. Colleen Loughlin and Carly Kennedy added a goal each. Vikings coach Stacey Beaulieu credited Carly Kennedy and Kristi Davis (8 saves) for their defensive contributions.

"Considering we haven't been outside since last week, I thought we played very well," said Beaulieu. "We're making the most of our time on the attack."

Pentucket 17, Ipswich 15

Sarah Galligan (4 goals, 2 assists) sparked Pentucket (6-2). Brianna Yocum tallied four goals and two assists. Kayla Jewett had four goals and an assist. KC Jones added four goals. Zoe McKenzie tallied a goal and two assists. Sarah Evers had two assists. Hillary Dandurant, in her first varsity start, made 19 saves.

Masconomet 25, Newburyport 8

Newburyport (1-6) trailed 16-4 at halftime. The Clippers play at Pentucket Monday afternoon (3:45 p.m.).

North Andover 14, Georgetown 12

Shannon Hartford had five goals and an assist in the Georgetown (5-3) loss. Kelly Burke added three goals and two assists. Alyssa Rosenthal had three goals. Katherine Falzareno scored a goal. April Surrette had 11 saves in net. Georgetown coach Heather Hartford credited the defensive efforts of Pauline Reilly and Robin Scotti.

Amesbury 8, Georgetown 2

Caitlyn Bartley was 2 for 3 with a two-run home run and three RBIs for Amesbury (10-2). Abby Pare was also 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs. Gabby Magnifico had two hits and an RBI. Jackie Webber tallied a triple and single. Carrie Salvator had a double, single and two runs scored. Jordan Oliva pitched four inning of no-hit ball. Michelle Ring pitched the final three.

Boys Tennis

Pentucket 4, Lynnfield 1

The Sachems (3-2) swept the singles matches with Jeff Boyd (6-1, 6-0), Ryan Swanson (6-1, 6-3), and Matt Murphy (6-0, 6-2) providing decided victories. Doubles players Nate Eams and Pat Baga (6-3, 3-6, 7-6) earned a victory.

Girls Tennis

Triton 5, Amesbury 0

Triton (8-2) received victories from Lauren Mihalchik (6-0, 6-2), Molly Fargeorge (6-1, 6-1) and Allie Murray (6-0, 6-1) in singles play. Rachel Bissett and Christine Powers (6-3, 6-2) and Theresa Kiminski and Julia Ackerly (6-0, 7-6, 7-5) won in doubles play.
