Dynamic Georgetown duo helps Royals prevail in OT

Girls Lacrosse

Georgetown 19, Ipswich 17 in OT

With Kelly Burke (8 goals, 1 assist) back in the lineup, perhaps the CAL's best 1-2 punch along with Shannon Hartford (8 goals, 3 assists) were able to help get Georgetown to overtime and win.

Katherine Falzareno also scored a goal, Megan Makiver had two goals, Michelle Reilly and Emily Messelaar each had an assist, and April Surrette had 14 saves in goal for the Royals. Coach Heather Hartford said Pauline Reilly and Alyssa Rosenthal were stalwarts on defense as well.

Softball

North Reading 7, Newburyport 5

Cutting down on their errors (only 5 for the game) the Newburyport Clippers were able to hang around with the defending Division 3 state champions playing a tremendous game. Lindsey Tomasz had two hits and scored a run, Cassandra Davis had a hit and scored two runs, and Meg Cronan had one hit and scored a run.

Ipswich 7, Triton 0

Ipswich overpowered Triton, shutting out the Vikings, who had a great diving catch from right fielder Alyssa Conely.

Pentucket 13, Lynnfield 4

Only rain could slow down the potent Pentucket bats as the game was stopped early. Jen Meehan had a fine performance on the mound to earn her second win of the year, while Emily Perron had two hits and four RBIs, Tyne Park had three hits and three RBIs, and Cassandra Koegel had two RBIs.

Boys Lacrosse

Lynnfield 10, Pentucket 9 in OT

It was another bitter pill for Pentucket to swallow as the Sachems came up short in overtime to Lynnfield, despite 19 saves from Brandon Haley. For the game Alex Connelly had three goals and two assists, Dylan Chase had two goals and two assists, Taylor Cahill , Tom Clark, and Ben Stasiuk had one goal, and Austin Ago had one goal and one assist.

Baseball

Masconomet 5, Pentucket 3

Despite another close battle with a River Rival opponent, Masconomet was able to stay undefeated, this time upending Pentucket, 5-3. For the Sachems Jordan Silva was 2 for 4, Justin Bolla was 2 for 4, Chris Modlish was 2 for 3, and Joe Martin pitched real well from the hill.

Girls Tennis

Triton 3, Ipswich 2

Molly Fargeorge (6-2, 6-4), the team of Rachel Bissett and Christine Powers (6-4, 7-5), and the team of Theresa Kaminski and Emily Kaminski (7-6, 6-4) were all victorious for the Vikings in the team's win.
