Triton's Lesage a monster in win over Generals

Boys Lacrosse

Triton 17, Hamilton-Wenham 9

Chris LeSage tallied nine goals and one assist for Triton (7-8). Paul Bishop tallied three goals and three assists. Nick DiFrancesco had two goals and two assists. Josh Arango scored two goals. Will Joy and Craig White added a goal each. Caleb Woodworth had two assists.

"They played outstanding," said Triton coach Donna Andersen. "This game was huge because needed to win our last two games to go onto states. They came out and played a very strong game to keep our tournament dreams alive."

Wilmington 10, Newburyport 9

Andrew Sokol scored three goals for Newburyport (5-7). Corey Ruane and Kirk Dillon had two goals and one assist each. Sam Melanson and Joe Ciavacco added a goal each. Steven Bajko had two assists. Steve Matses had one. Dean Cataldo made 11 saves. Newburyport must win its final three games to clinch a state tournament berth.

"We didn't play well at all," Newburyport coach Ed Gaudiano said. "If we play like we played (yesterday), the tournament is a moot point. We wouldn't belong."

Ipswich 10, Pentucket 4

Although Pentucket was able to keep it close until the end of the third quarter, Ipswich slowly distanced themselves to hand the Sachems their fifth straight loss. Ben Stasiuk (2 goals), Josh Haley (1 goal), Dylan Chase (1 goal), Greg Rotondo (1 assist), Chris Guilmet (1 assist), and Brandon Haley (10 saves) all figured into the scoring for Pentucket.

Girls Lacrosse

Pentucket 21, Gloucester 15

Riding a three-game losing streak, Pentucket took out its frustration on Gloucester thumping the Fishermen, 21-15, to move within one win of qualifying for the state tournament.

Zoe McKenzie (2 goals), K.C. Jones (3 goals, 2 assists), Sarah Evers (2 goals, 2 assists), Brianna Yocum (4 goals, 3 assists), Sarah Galligan (3 goals, 2 assists), Kayla Jewett (3 goals), Calley Yocum (1 goal, 2 assists), Stephanie Fitzgerald (1 goal), Vanessa Cahill (1 goal, 1 assist), Colden Broderick (1 goal), and Hillary Dandurant (11 saves) all figured into the scoring for Pentucket.

Baseball

Amesbury 10, Ipswich 5

Mike Corrigan pitched a complete game for Amesbury (4-11). He struck out nine batters. Nick Slevoski went 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored. Freshman JC Collette was 2 for 3 with two runs scored. Chris Cassidy was 2 for 3 with two RBIs.

Wilmington 11, Georgetown 2

In the last three games, all losses, Georgetown only scored three runs, and nothing changed much against Wilmington as the Royals continued to scuffle at the plate pushing the losing streak to four straight.

Newburyport 12, Hamilton-Wenham 2

Kyle McElroy (5 innings pitched, 3 hits, 6 strikeouts, 0 earned runs) was brilliant again on the mound pitching the Clippers into the post season with their 10th win of the season, while still remaining a game behind the chase for the CAL Large title after the win over Hamilton-Wenham.

Kyle LeBlanc (2 for 3, 3 RBIs, 2 runs scored) helped get the bats going early tattooing a 360-foot 3-run homer in the first as the Clippers scored four runs in all in the first. Joe Clancy (4 for 4, 2 RBIs, 2 runs), Richie Burke (2 hits scored 2 runs 2 RBIs), and Tom Morris (2 for 2 ,1 RBI, 1 run) also had big offensive games.

Girls Tennis

Triton 4, Wilmington 1

Molly Fargeorge (6-2, 6-2), Allie Murray (6-0, 6-1), the team of Christine Powers and Rachel Bissett (6-0, 6-2), and the team of Julia Ackerly and Emily Kaminski (6-4, 5-7, 7-6) were all winners as the Vikings moved into second place in the CAL Large.

Haverhill 4, Amesbury 1

Kelly Murray was the lone winner for the Indians at third singles.

Boys Tennis

Wilmington 3, Triton 2

Both Charles True (6-0, 6-3) and Ben Cross (6-3, forfeit) were winners for the Vikings in one of their closer matches of the season, but still Wilmington was too much. Coach Jim Galante said the team played very well and showed great enthusiasm.

Girls Track

Triton 97, Pentucket 48

Triton completed its undefeated CAL season by beating Pentucket, 97-48.

The Vikings had first place finishers with Devon Haddock (300, 52.6), Deanna Latham (triple jump 36-6, long jump 17-5, 100 hurdles 15.6, 200 26.5), Nicki Wurdeman (shot put 38-2, discus 113-5), Rachelle Bourque (javelin 118), Meredith McWeeney (100 13.2), the 4x100 team of Lily Wall, Tori Clay, Ashley Pinette and McWeeney (53.3), and the 4x400 relay team of Hillary Granara, Liz Kane, Clay, and Brittany Caprio (4:23).

The Sachems had first place finishers with Addison Desrosiers ( 2-mile 13:07.2), Christine Roy (high jump 4-10), Ellen Broz (pole vault 8-6), Alanna Poretta (mile 5:33.3), Andrea Attenasio (400 62.7), and April O'Brien (800 2:23).

Boys Track

Triton 85, Pentucket 60

Triton completed the sweep over Pentucket as the boys topped the Sachems, 85-60.

Billy Tindle (300h 42.9, 110h 16.1), Brian McDonnell (2-mile 10:53), Peter Rock (long jump 21-7, 400 52.0), Kyle Devenish (triple jump 41.5), James Coady (discus 125-5), Dan Busta (javelin 140-3), and Brian Cosgrove (800 2:16) all had first places for the Vikings.

Max Arthur (high jump 5-10, 100 11.5), Dane Kowalewski (shot put 41-1), Eric McDonald (mile 4:47), the 4x100 team of Dan Swansen, Cam Kitsakos, Brian Cormier, and Arthur (46.4), Nick D'Amore (200 24.5), and the 4x400 team of Nate Sawyer, Connor Tribble, Eric Froton, and McDonald (3:49) all had first place finishes for the Sachems.
