Georgetown 10, Triton 8
Georgetown (10-4) overcame a 6-3 halftime deficit to take sole possession of the lead in the Cape Ann League Division 2 standings. Shannon Hartford notched four goals and four assists for the Royals. Alyssa Rosenthal added two goals. Michelle Reilly had a goal and an assist. Kelly Burke, Emily Messelaar and Kristen Pingree scored a goal each. April Surrett made 10 saves. Pauline Reilly and Katherine Falzereno played well defensively according to Royals coach Heather Hartford.
"It was a great lacrosse game to be a part of," Hartford said. "They took advantage of their settled offense in the first half. We had a pep talk at halftime, and we pulled it out. Everybody came to play."
For Triton (10-5), Erin Curley netted three goals. Sarah Peterson added a goal and three assists. Michelle Godfrey, Sarah Nardone, Erin Loughlin and Colleen Gargan had one goal each.
Masconomet 21, Pentucket 18
The Sachems (8-7) nearly rallied back from a 17-6 deficit in the final 19 minutes. Sarah Galligan tallied six goals and three assists. Brianna Yocum added three goals and two assists. KC Jones (2 goals, 1 assist), Sarah Evers (2 goals), Kayla Jewett (2 goals, 2 assists) and Calley Yocum had multi-goal games. Zoe McKenzie (1 goals, 2 assists) also scored. Colden Broderick had two assists. Colleen McGoldrick added one. Hillary Dandurant made 10 saves. Sachems coach Bob Pierce cited the defensive play of Kayla Melville.
Baseball
Pentucket 16, Amesbury 1
Justin Bolla was 3 for 3 with three runs scored and two RBIs for Pentucket (9-4). Jordan Silva was 3 for 5 with two runs and three RBIs. Sean Milley (2 for 3, 3 runs), Harry Shipps (3 for 4) and Chris Modlish (2 for 4) also had multihit games. Bobby Maguire (4-0) pitched five innings, allowing one unearned run. He allowed three hits and two walks. The Sachems have won seven of their last eight. Amesbury (4-13) had five hits.
"I felt like we competed every at bat, every inning and every ground ball," Pentucket coach Tom L'Italien said. "Our communication the whole game was outstanding."
Georgetown 15, Rockport 1
Georgetown senior Tim Holland pitched a complete-game one-hitter and also went 3 for 3 with four runs scored in Georgetown's 15-1 win at Evans Field. Holland took a no-hitter into the sixth inning before Vikings catcher Eric Juncker broke it up with a line drive single to left field.
"Tim was the story of the game," Georgetown head coach Mark Rowe said. "He had a couple of hits offensively but his biggest impact was on the mound. He had all of his pitches going tonight and he pitched great. He even saved a few hits with his glove."
Softball
Governor's Academy 6, Nobles Academy 3
Trailing 2-0 entering the seventh inning, the Govs (11-1) rallied for six runs to move to within a game of clinching the second Independent School League title in school history. Amanda Correnti sparked the rally with a home run. Laura Beohner had a two-run single and also pitched the complete game.
Boys Lacrosse
Georgetown 17, Manchester Essex 8
The Royals (7-8) have won four of their last five games and must win two of their last three to qualify for the state tournament. Dave LaFlamme tallied five goals and six assists. James McGillicuddy scored four goals. Nick Sheffield had three goals and an assist. Brandon Wade added three goals. Jon Bordonaro and Robbie Gibb scored one goal each. Billy Smith had two assists. Joe Butera made 11 saves.
"We had a big win (Wednesday) against Lynnfield," Georgetown coach Matt Bouchard said. "To come out the next day and get another win is huge. We're in the driver's seat now. We're a much different team than we were in the first half."
Boys Tennis
Pentucket 4, Amesbury 1
Jeff Boyd (6-0, 6-1), Ryan Swanson (6-0, 6-0) and Matt Murphey (6-3, 6-3) won in straight sets for Pentucket (5-5). Tim Swartz and Ryan Clancey (7-5, 6-2) added a win in doubles. Amesbury's Ben Lloyd and Adrian Bazenas (7-5, 6-3) won their doubles match.
Girls Tennis
Pentucket 4, Amesbury 1
Liza Pope (6-0, 6-1), Karena Webber (6-0, 6-0) and Cara Freitas (6-0, 6-2) won their singles matches for Pentucket (5-6). Sarah Dillon and Cecily Bigham (6-1, 6-2) won their doubles match. For Amesbury, Katelyn Santosousso and Megan Lattime (6-4, 6-2) won their doubles match.
Triton 3, Haverhill 2
Allie Murray (6-0, 6-1) and Megan Murray (7-6, 6-4) won their singles matches for Triton (12-4). Christine Powers and Rachel Bissett (6-0, 6-1) won in doubles play.
Track and Field
Amesbury swept by Newburyport in season finale
In the Amesbury girls team's 90-54 loss, Jen Fuller (mile), Rebecca Crochiere (400) and Dawn Storck (javelin) won individual events. Amesbury's 4x100 team of Bri Dandurant, Katara Harding, Nicole Grady and Ashley Godjikian and mile relay team of Kelsey Esposito, Rose Mirandi, Kathleen Hodge and Fuller also won.
In the Amesbury boys team's 90-54 loss, Bennet Noyes (long jump), John Lannon (high jump, pole vault) and Ben Lord (100) won individual events.
Golf
Governor's Academy 4, Milton Academy 3
Governor's Academy 6, Lawrence Academy 1
Mike Kenny, Kyle Doherty and Chris Webster won matches in both competitions. Alan Sweetman and Patrick Cronin halved their matches against Milton. The Govs (8-2-1) face Phillips Andover and Phillips Exeter Saturday at the Portsmouth Country Club.
