Named one of 10 finalists for Gabe Pacione Memorial Cape Ann Scholarship ... Placed second in the 800 (2:02) at the Cape Ann League Open ... Ranked sixth in class with 4.65 GPA ... Will attend Cornell University in the fall.

Mark Bajko

Newburyport, Jr., Pole vault

Placed third in the pole vault (10-0) at the Division 4 Championships ... Qualified for the All-State Meet ... Maintains a 3.9 GPA ... A two sport (indoor track, outdoor track) Daily News All-Star ... Also played soccer.

Andrew Buckless

Triton, So., Mile

Placed fourth in the mile (4:35.59) at the Division 3 Championships ... A merit scholar ... A member of the school's indoor track and cross country teams ... The lone sophomore to earn Daily News All-Star distinction.

Earned the River Rival Region's top finish at the Division 3 Championships, placing second in the pole vault (11-0) ... Placed third in the same event at the Cape Ann League Open ... Member of the cross country team.

Kevin Johnston

Greg Englehart

Newburyport, Jr., 2-mile

Englehart was a Daily News All-Star in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track. During the spring season, he was the only athlete from the River Rival Region to capture a Cape Ann League title in an individual event. Englehart won the 2-mile (10:02). He also competed in the Division 4 Championships, placing sixth in the 4x800 relay along with Ryan Stansel, Ian Wood and Thayer Adsit.

Englehart is the school record holder in the mile (4:33) for indoor track. He's also a member of the school record holding 4x800 relay and distance medley teams. He maintains a 3.72 GPA and cites former Hamilton-Wenham runner Gabe Pacione as a role model.

During the cross country season, Englehart was voted Newburyport's co-MVP along with Brian Morse. He placed 20th at the Division 4 Championships at Franklin Park. He has also run the ninth fastest time in the history of Maudslay State Park course.
