LINDSEY TOMASZ

Newburyport, Jr., Third Base

Called the most gifted hitter in 20 years in the Cape Ann League by Triton head coach Jim Hounam and had her swing compared to Ted Williams by her own coach Peter Murray, who videotaped the swing and used it as a training tool, Tomasz was an absolute one-woman wrecking crew for the Clippers.

The three-time Daily News All-Star for softball, who also started in net for the back-to-back state champion soccer team, won the CAL Large player of the year due to her large numbers at the plate — a league-high .667 batting average. Tomasz also had a team high 38 hits, 28 runs scored, 22 RBIs, eight home runs, five triples, seven doubles and 20 extra base hits.

A Boston Globe All-Scholastic, Tomasz and coach Peter Murray said her season highlight was a walk-off, game-winning grand slam against Ipswich in which the Tigers moved their second baseman to the outfield to have four outfielders.
