Waters leading undefeated Brakettes

Women's Fastpitch Softball

Waters helps the cause

Former Amesbury High star Ashley Waters, who batted .352 as the University of Maine's leading hitter this past spring, is also having a fine season in her first year with the Brakettes. Primarily used as an outfielder, Waters is hitting .392 with one home run and 26 RBIs.

Greater Newburyport Softball

Harrison and Son 14, Chemical Consultants 11

Derek Coburn and Jennilee Danielson had three hits each for Harrison and Sons. Glen Chaput (3 for 4) and Ron Comeau (3 for 3) led the Consultants.

Chunky's Cinema 10, Chemical Consultants 9

Adam "Burn" Desmaris was 3 for 3 for Chunky's. Rick Hounam also had three hits, including a game-winning home run. Joe Sokolowski (2 for 3) led the Consultants. Matt Thomas played well defensively.

River Rivals Girls Basketball

Amesbury Red 44, Amesbury White 15

Mary Pettigrew led Amesbury Red with 15 points. Courtney Borkowski added 10. Vanessa Morris scored six. Rachel Connelly had five. Emily Pettigrew and Amanda Martin scored four points each for the White. Kristen Sydlowski, Isabel Berzansky and Julia Schlich added two each.

Babe Ruth Baseball

Newburyport 3, Triton 2

Nick Bragole picked up the win for Newburyport's 13-year-old team. Mike Abbott, Andrew Fiascone and Evan Habib played well defensively. Pat Crowley added two hits.
