"We celebrated at the arena directly after the conclusion of the game. We all (fellow Newburyport-area Celtics employees Steve Markos and Sean Sullivan) have seats in different areas of the arena, so it was a pretty amazing feeling when we were all together for the first time as champions. Steve and I actually walked out of the Garden at 6 a.m. and hopped on the train. I'm confident and hopeful we'll be receiving a ring." 2. Would you prefer the Celtics re-sign James Posey or go after Corey Maggette in free agency? "Although Maggette is a very good player, I would definitely prefer to have Posey back in the mix. He has a lot of intangibles on and off the court with his leadership skills and his ability to fill many different roles." 3. What did you think of the draft, and was there another potential draft pick you would've preferred they select? "We did a good job of filling needs in the draft, and got two players with a ton of upside in J.R. Giddens and Bill Walker. Plus, it's not a bad option to have a big guy like Semih Erden playing overseas that could turn out to be a good asset." 4. Do you have a best story from the playoff stretch? "My best story from the playoff stretch was playing Ray Allen in ping pong after the memorable Game 4 comeback in L.A. We were in the ball room of the hotel after the game and he came down and ran the table on us for a little bit. I'm pretty sure I scored three total points in a best-of-three series. His serve was impossible to return." 5. Did Atlanta or Cleveland ever worry you during either seven-game series? "I was definitely a little nervous during both series when we just weren't finding our stride on the road. Cleveland worried me more than Atlanta during Game 7 due to the LeBron James factor, but we were playing so well at home I still had a good amount of confidence that we would take care of business. Being there and watching Paul (Pierce) and LeBron go back and forth, that was one of the best games of the entire playoffs." 6. Best moment from the playoffs? "Game 6 of the finals — during the fourth quarter when the entire arena began to stir and we all knew it was about to happen. You have a million happy thoughts running through your head, and the emotion really starts to kick in. Then all the confetti starts to fall and it all just hits you in the best way, we really are the champions. I'd say pulling out of the Garden on the Duck Boats to tens of thousands of fans was a very close second." 7. Where do the Celtics go in the offseason? "Home to relax, I hope. Just soak it all in and get ready for next year. And I'm sure some of the young guys will stick around the training facility to get workouts in." 8. How do you like their chances to repeat? "Excellent. We have our starting five back, and both Rondo and Perkins have another year with playoff experience under their belts. We just need to fill in the necessary spots, get the young guys ready, and make another run at it." — JOHN SHIMER
