Football

The Georgetown High football program will have its second annual youth flag football clinic July 26 (8 a.m. to 12 p.m.) at Georgetown High. The clinic is open to boys 6- to 14-years-old. Running

The 30th annual Salisbury Beach Lifeguard 5-Mile Beach Race will take place Aug. 16 (6 p.m.) during low tide. Entry fees are $12 if received before Aug. 1 or $15 after. Summer cross country races will run on Thursday evenings (6 p.m.) until Aug. 14 at Maudslay State Park on the Travis Landreth Cross Country Course. The third River Rivals Summer Track Grand Prix Series, sponsored by Winner's Circle Running Club and Yankee Runner will include a meet at Pentucket on Aug. 5 and Newburyport on Aug. 12. Sign-up on each night starts at 5 p.m. Events start at 5:45 p.m. The cost is $5 per night. Athletes ages 6 through open are welcome.

The Newburyport Lions Club is planning for the 49th annual Yankee Homecoming 10-Mile and 5K races to be held July 29. Wall of Fame

Softball

Soccer

The Triton youth soccer league is accepting fall registration for the travel and intramural teams. The registration period runs until Aug. 30 for intramural. There is a $25 late fee after these dates. To register go to www.tritonyouthsoccer.org.

Golf

The fifth annual Clipper Cup Golf Tournament will be played Sept. 13 (8 a.m.) at Evergreen Golf Course. A $90 entry fee includes 18 holes with a cart, food, beverages and prizes. The Newburyport hockey program is looking for hole sponsors to make $100 raffle donations. All proceeds benefit the NHS hockey program. Rock Climbing

MetroRock Climbing Center in Newburyport is hosting "The Last Summer Fling" Aug. 16 from 1 to 6 p.m. All activities are free and open to the public. There will be pro clinics, gear demos, music, food and beverages. That evening, the gym will serve as the site for a free party lit by black lights and hosted by a professional disc jockey.

Cheerleading

The Amesbury Jets youth cheerleading program is hosting an interest meeting Aug. 4 and 5 (5-7:30 p.m.) at the Amesbury Chair on Clinton Street. The Jets are in need of coaches and volunteers.

Baseball

The fifth annual Newburyport High alumni game to benefit ALS will be played Aug. 2 at the Lower Field. The cost is $20 and includes a shirt and hat. Fall Sports Registration

Newburyport High will begin fall sports registration for football and cheerleading Aug. 18 and all other sports Aug. 21. To register, parents must visit Pat McBride in the high school office any weekday from Aug. 4-8 or 11-15 (7 a.m. to 12 p.m. or 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.), or sign up in the high school office between 6:30-8:30 p.m. Aug. 14. Parents need a parental consent form, an updated physical exam and a check for users fees.
