Field Hockey
Manchester Essex 7, Pentucket Regional 0
The Manchester-Essex field hockey team got a big shot in the arm with the return of play maker Lee Stroman. The senior midfielder had missed the first half of the season with a torn ACL that she suffered last winter. Stroman made an instant impact scoring a goal in the Hornets 7-0 win over Pentucket yesterday.
"It is huge for us to get Lee back," Hornets head coach Pam Grant said. "She is a great player and will really help us down the stretch."
Manchester Essex (8-1-1) got two goals from Amelia Cohen and Amelia Burke. Lizzy Ball and Jen Bishop added one goal each.
Georgetown 3, Triton Regional 1
The visiting Triton Vikings bowed to the Georgetown Royals 3-1 yesterday. Sarah Nardone made 12 saves for the Vikings and Nicole Lebel notched a goal in the first half of play. Triton had the advantage in penalty corners, 18-9.
"Both goalies played very well," said coach Donna Andersen. "We played them very well, and I feel that the game could have went either way."

"We were down six after the first pair came in, but once Vito (won by 8 points) and Matt (won by 15 points) rolled in, I was able to relax a bit," said Sachem coach Jayne Martinese. "Josh had his season high today and outscored his opponent by 19 points."

Tom Svirksy put the Clippers (4-4-1) on the board in the first half. Steve Bjayko added a tally in the second half on an assist from Phil Arets.
Amesbury 5, Georgetown 3
You can put Amesbury (1-3-4) on the board, yes. The Indians, who fell behind to Georgetown, 3-2, in the second were quite resilient in coming from behind to beat the Royals.
Dylan Bagshaw was the guy for Amesbury. Despite a hurt ankle, Bagshaw put home a hat trick to lead the way. Jay Wade and Kyle Bell had the other two Indian goals, and Mike Dragonas had an assist.
Coach Brett Manoloff said the key to getting the team's first win was staying on the offensive end late in the game, keeping the pressure on instead of trying to hold onto the lead.
Triton Regional 2, Ipswich 0
Nick Cross deposited a first-half goal for Triton (4-1-3) on an assist from a corner kick from Nate Shelter. Evan Schwarz added a second-half goal assisted by Justin Paquette.

Lynnfield 4, Pentucket Regional 1
The Pentucket Sachems (3-5-0) fell to the Lynnfield Pioneers (6-1-1) last night, 4-1. Sarah Felig scored the lone Sachem goal and Heather Thomas did her best in goal with six saves for Pentucket.
"Other than a span in the second half where Lynnfield scored three times in four minutes, this game was very back and forth," said Sachem coach Greg Scruton. "Regardless of the outcome, I'm still very proud of how well they passed the ball around and played defense."
Ipswich 3, Triton Regional 1
Triton just can't seem to turn its season around after suffering another crushing loss, this time at the hands of Ipswich, 3-1.
Deanna Latham finished a beautiful one-time shot from Rachel Bourque with 10 minutes to go, and the Vikings seemingly had all the momentum heading into the second half. In the second half Brittany Caprio's cross from 20 yards out bending across the face of goal looked to be a great chance to put the team ahead, but no one could get a touch. Fifteen minutes to go Ipswich put in the first of its two second half goals and finished the game off with only three minutes remaining.
Newburyport 3, North Reading 1
She did it.
In a 3-1 win over North Reading, Newburyport's Jillian Kinter tied Kristin Mahoney's school record for goals scored in a career with 76 when Veronica Poirier took a throw in from Avery Cullinan in the seventh minuted and crossed back door to the wide open senior.
However, Kinter's effort was not the first of the day for the Clippers. Laura Muise put Newburyport on the board first dribbling through three defenders after terrific pass from Taylor Bresnahan. Then in the 24th minute Poirier, not to be outdone by Kinter, hit a side volley from 15 yards out to save to keep pace on the year with 12 goals a piece.
