2009 Girls Lacrosse All-Star Team

PLAYER OF THE YEAR

SHANNON HARTFORD

Georgetown, Sr., Midfield

For the third consecutive year, Georgetown's Shannon Hartford is the Daily New Girls Lacrosse Player of the Year — and for good reason.

Hartford was named as the Cape Ann League Division 2 player of the year, helped her team to a 14-6 record and a third CAL title in four seasons, and notched 128 points on the season. Equally adept at passing (61 assists) as she was at scoring (67 goals), Hartford not only left an imprint within the Georgetown lacrosse program, but her total of 520 career points places her second all-time in the Massachusetts girls high school lacrosse scoring list.

Named as her team's MVP, Hartford was a four-year All-League scoring staple on the Royals. Even when the odds were stacked against her at midseason, Hartford fractured her left hand in two places and suddenly Georgetown's tourney dreams took a heavy hit. However, just one game later, Hartford was back, and she resumed her role as Georgetown's most prominent threat.

A National Honor Society student, Hartford has excelled in every possible venture, and come next fall, Hartford will bring her winning ways to Division 1 Presbyterian College in South Carolina where she will play lacrosse in the spring.
