Fellow Newburyport native Billy Eiserman was also a member of the UMass Lowell hockey team at the start of the season, before leaving school after the first semester during his sophomore year. He signed with the Chicago Steel of the United States Hockey League after playing in 32 games over a season and a half at UMass Lowell.
Georgetown native Michael Johnson, a senior left-handed pitcher at Dartmouth College, improved to 3-0 on the season when he earned the victory in a 7-4 defeat of Bradley Saturday afternoon. Johnson, a Brooks School alumnus, is now 11-2 in his career, good for a winning percentage of .846. That ranks third-best in Dartmouth history.
Two former members of the Newburyport Nor’Easters Post 150 Legion team are having standout seasons at Merrimack College. Tim Cashman, a Triton Regional alumnus, pitched 7.2 innings and struck out 12 in a victory over American International Sunday. Mark O’Flynn, an Ipswich High alumnus and member of the 2009 Nor’Easters state championship team, was 3 for 4 with two triples and double in the same game.
Triton Regional High alumnus Andrew Fecteau, a senior golfer at UMass Lowell, had the top two-day score (153) among Riverhawks at the Dowling College Bayside Resort Invitational March 16 and 17 in Selbyville, Del.
