The 23rd Annual Winner’s Circle Running Club Wild Turkey Trot 3.1 Mile Cross-Country Run/Walk will be run Nov. 22 at 8:30 a.m. at the Pipestave Hill/Mill Pond Recreation Area. Proceeds to benefit the West Newbury Historical Society and the charitable activities and youth and adult running programs of the Winner’s Circle Running Club. The Maudslay 5K Turkey Trot will take place at 8:20 a.m. on Nov. 22 at Newburyport’s Maudslay State Park. All race profits will go to the Newburyport Parks and other local charities. Please go to for additional details or email


Train for the second annual Green Strides Half Marathon, and/or the All Women One Lucky Guy Half Marathon both in Newburyport this fall, and/or the Boston Tufts 10K with coach Nancy McCarthy Saturdays at 8 a.m. from Natural High Fitness Club on Water Street. Get off the couch and join a Relay Team for the first-timers at the Green Strides Half Marathon and Relay race in October. The new Couch to 5K Program, for new runners, coached by Nancy McCarthy, will run Saturday mornings at 9 a.m. from Natural High Fitness Club. The sixth annual Mike Donohoe Run/Walk for Melanoma will be Oct. 21 at noon (kids run at 11:30 a.m.). Register online at by Oct. 7 and receive a free t-shirt. For more information, email or call Rich at 978-500-9023.


The Howling Mile dog race will take place Oct. 27 at 10 a.m. at Newburyport’s Cashman Park. The dog will have the timing chip, and the dog owner will be running with the dog. The race will be one nautical mile along the rail trail. There will be prizes by weight class of the dog, and also prizes for the best costume. After the race there will be a dog carnival hosted by the Clipper City Canines organization.
