Port cross-country boys clinch 4th CAL title in a row

Boys Cross-Country

Newburyport 15, Amesbury 50

Newburyport (10-0) clinched its fourth Cape Ann League championship in a row. Joe Santo, Sawyer Updike, Gabe Ficht, Max Vye, Joe Molvar and Tim Englehart all tied for first place in 17:40 at Maudslay State Park. Amesbury’s Liam Gallagher placed 10th in 17:55. Austin Parker (17th, 18:17) and Riley O’Connor (21st, 18:49) also chipped in for the Indians.

Pentucket 15, Triton 50

For Pentucket (8-2), Alex Demeule, Drew Capener, Devin McKee, Jeremy Binding, Joe Labrecque and Cooper Carifio tied for first in 18:30 at Pipestave Hill. For Triton (1-9), Dmitri Hunt placed 10th, Drew Collins 12th, and Sam Auwerda 13th.

Girls Cross-Country

Newburyport 25, Amesbury 34

Newburyport’s Erin Carroll, Kelly Conway and Kristen Mackie tied for third in 20:56. Rachel Haley (6th, 21:02) and Lilly Eagan (7th, 21:05) rounded out the scoring for the Clippers. Amesbury’s Julia Shorter (1st, 19:05), Renee Vigneault (2nd, 20:24) and Samantha Stone (8th, 21:12) factored in the scoring.

Pentucket 26, Triton 31

Marissa Porter (1st, 20:02), Kasey Mann (2nd, 20:41), Breanna Repke (5th, 21:22), Jordan Balletto (6th, 21:31) and Taylor Moore (12th, 24:12) paced the Sachems (4-4). Elise Mitchell (3rd), Liz Willmonton (4th), Maureen Moore (7th), Ceili Riccio (8th) and Madison Estes (9th) led Triton.

Field Hockey

Pentucket 4, Triton 0

The Sachems (9-5-1) qualified for the state tournament with the victory. Tori Spofford had two goals and an assist. Jackie Brennan and Angelica Arrendondo also scored goals. Megan Haley had two saves.
