Latimer was the game’s leading scorer, recording 18 points, including 12 points in the second half and what turned out to be the game-wining three. Masconomet junior guard Jake Rudolph scored 11 points and grabbed 5 rebounds to help pace the Chieftains offense.

Newburyport senior forward Dillon Guthro was the leading scorer for Newburyport, recording a double-double with 13 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks, and Shay added 10 points of his own.

With the win, Masconomet improves to 9-7 on the season, while Newburyport falls to 8-8 with two games to play. Newburyport can still clinch a state tournament berth with a win over Pentucket on Friday or Saugus next Tuesday.
