Newburyport 2, Franklin 1
The Newburyport varsity hockey team beat Franklin 2-1 on the road yesterday afternoon, finishing the regular season 12-7-2 while heading into the state tournament on a four-game winning streak.

“I’m very proud of this team,” said Newburyport coach Paul Yameen.
“We started off 1-4, we battled all season long, and I need to give a lot of credit to my team. They’ve been great leaders and have had a good voice all season. I’m very happy with the way we finished the season.”
Newburyport will learn its tournament fate over the weekend, when the MIAA releases its tournament bracket and schedule.
