Division III meet
Triton senior Mark Boyle took first place at the Division III meet this past weekend, beating Mt. Greylock’s Johnny Colon in the 182-pound division finals to claim the Division III championship.
Boyle’s victory highlighted a day of excellent performances by local competitors, which also included a second-place finish in the 126-pound division for Pentucket’s Josh Wesolowski. Overall, eight athletes will move on to next Friday’s All-State Tournament at the Tsongas Arena in Lowell, including Triton’s Boyle, Jake Durkin (4th place at 126), Luke Boyle (4th place at 145) and John Boyle (5th place at 152); Pentucket’s Wesolowski and Noah Mahli (4th place at 170); and Georgetown-Ipswich’s Derek Chamberlain (4th place at 195) and Constantine Galanis (5th at 138).
Others who competed included Triton’s Brody Johnson, Cody Nixon, Charlie Frauenfelder and Alex Moffat; Pentucket’s Kyle Knox; and Georgetown-Ipswich’s Matt Carey, Mike Gallanar, Carsten LaPlante and Mark Mansfield.
Overall, Triton placed No. 6 at the meet, Pentucket placed No. 15 and Georgetown-Ipswich placed No. 31
All-State Indoor Championships
Triton’s Kerstin Darsney had a big day at this weekend’s All-State Indoor Championships, placing third in the state in the high jump with a jump of 5 feet, 6 inches, and 11th in the state in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 9.01.
Triton also got strong performances in the shot put, with Marissa Randall placing 11th with a throw of 35feet, 8.5 inches, and in the 2-mile, with Liz Willmonton finishing 23rd with a time of 12:15.91. Overall, the Triton girls placed 24th with six total points.
