Pentucket 1, Salem 0

Luis O’Meara scored the lone goal for top-seed Pentucket with five minutes remaining, lifting the Sachems (16-2-2) to victory in their Division 2 North quarterfinal matchup against ninth-seed Salem (12-5-3). Zack Bartula earned the assist on the goal when he played a ball in front of the Salem net in the closing minutes. O’Meara charged the cross, and headed the ball in from 12 yards out.

“Zack went all the way up the field with the ball, and crossed it like he’s so good at doing,” Pentucket coach Christian Langlois said. “Luis headed it, and squeezed it inside the post.”

Salem only generated two shots on Pentucket keeper Cody Sedler, although one hit the crossbar. Pentucket will play fifth-seed Concord-Carlisle (13-2-2) in the semifinals later this week.
