Pentucket girls basketball team suffers first defeat

Girls Basketball

Notre Dame of Hingham 36, Pentucket 32

The Sachems (1-1) experienced a rare loss under coach John McNamara, falling to non-league foe Notre Dame. Hannah Hollow led Pentucket with nine points, all of which came on 3-pointers. McKenna Kilian added seven points, and Kelsi McNamara chipped in six.

Notre Dame led 20-16 at halftime.

“It was a low-scoring, sloppy game,” McNamara said. “Notre Dame was able to hold on in the end.”

Boys Basketball

Georgetown 59, Ipswich 45

Brian Slack led Georgetown (4-0) with 17 points. Ben Denoncour added 12. Matt Gott (11), Pat Bjork (9) and Ben Noelk (8) also keyed the Royals’ scoring attack.



Wakefield Invitational

Georgetown/Ipswich wrestler Derek Chamberlain went 3-1 at 195 pounds. He now holds a record of 7-3 on the season.

Georgetown’s Constantine Galanis was 4-2 and finished in fifth at 138 pounds. Galanis is now 9-3 on the season. Henry Gorrell was fifth at 132 pounds. Mason Dalley logged a 3-2 record at 220 pounds.

Pentucket’s Josh Wesolowski placed third at 138 pounds. Fellow Sachem Noah Malhi was third in 170 pound division.
