Pentucket finished in sixth place in the CAL with 41 points on Tuesday with strong contributions from much of its team.
Finishing in second place in the 2-mile race was Emma Merchant at 11:53.43. The 4x200 meter team of Tyler Feeney, Jennie Nelson, Grace Dore and Brooke Chambers finished in second at 1:53:75. The 4x400 team also finished in second place — a team of Maddie Nelson, Ellison Seymour, Dore and Paige Wesolowski (4:18.77). Feeney also performed well in the hurdles, finishing in third at 9:06, a time that broke a 14-year-old school record, and the high jump where she finished in fourth at 4 feet, 10 inches.
Maddie Nelson finished in fourth in the 300-meter at 44.65, Siobhan Mitchell finshed in fifth in the high jump at 4 feet, 8 inches, and Jennie Nelson finished in sixth at the 300-meter at 45.40.
In the effort, Pentucket was awarded the team sportsmanship award, and head coach Steve Derro was named Coach of the Year for the Kinney Division.
“This was a great way to finish off our Cape Ann League season,” Derro said. “We had a ton of personal bests tonight. I’m extremely proud of the girls on their great season.”
