Cerullo named Daily News sports editor

NEWBURYPORT — The Daily News announces that it has promoted Mac Cerullo as its new sports editor.

Cerullo has worked at The Daily News for about a year and a half covering the city of Amesbury. He is a graduate of the University of Connecticut, and prior to joining The Daily News staff he served as managing editor for The Daily Campus, UConn’s student-run newspaper, where he worked for all four years of college.

While at The Daily Campus, Cerullo worked his way up through the paper’s sports department and served as sports editor during his junior year. That year, he covered the football team’s run to the Fiesta Bowl and men’s basketball team’s run to the Big East and National Championships.

Cerullo replaces Dan Guttenplan, who has taken a new position as managing editor at A.E. Engine Sports Media.
