Baseball

A Viking Baseball Clinic for students in grades 4 to 8 will be held at Triton Regional High Feb. 21 to 24. The clinic will run from 9 a.m. to noon each day and will focus on all of the fundamentals. The ninth annual Preseason Sachem Baseball School will be held at Pentucket Regional High from March 12 to March 16. One session runs 4 to 5:30 p.m. all week for all players in grades 2 through 9. The clinic will emphasize the proper skill development in pitching, catching and hitting. The camp also features indoor mounds and one indoor batting cage. The Essex Baseball Association will have a three-team league based out of Spencer-Peirce-Little Farm in Newbury. League games will be played by 1861 rules and take place on Sundays. The league will feature new clubs such as the Lowell Baseball Club, Newburyport Clamdiggers and Lynn Live Oaks. Players, umpires and score keepers are needed. Anyone interested can attend an informational meeting March 3 at noon at Spencer-Peirce-Little Farm. Little League

Amesbury Little League Baseball has opened sign-ups for the 2012 season. Kids ages 5 to 12 from Amesbury and South Hampton can register online at www.amesburylittleleague.org/registration. The player's birthday must be between May 1, 1999, and May 1, 2007. Currently, early registration is $85 per player with a family maximum of $170 per family. Registrations after March 1 will be considered late and registration costs will be $100 per player, with a family maximum of $200. No registrations after March 18 will be accepted. Wall of Fame

The Newburyport High School Wall Of Fame Committee is accepting nominations for the 2012 year. Those interested may send nominations to the Newburyport High, attention Pat McBride, before the June 1 deadline.

Soccer

Amesbury Soccer Association is registering players for Spring Travel Soccer. Teams are currently being formed in the U10-U19 boys and girls divisions. Seacoast United is receiving applications for teams for its 2012 Nike Indoor Cup to be held at the indoor facility in Hampton, N.H. This is open to all U11 through U14 clubs within the region. Minimizing the amount of age groups participating allows the Seacoast United staff to accept both Premier and Travel teams and create separate divisions for each. Every team that is accepted into the tournament is guaranteed four games of 25 minutes each. Running

Runners and walkers are invited to join the weekly Sunday morning Snowflake Series. The purpose of the series is to get people moving outdoors right through the winter. According to run coach Nancy McCarthy, the series is also designed to improve runners/walkers speed and endurance. The 30- to 45-minute sessions, which start at 8 a.m., will end with coffee and conversation by the fire at Plum Island Coffee Roasters, where the group also meets to start their workout.
