Hall/Wall of Fame

The Newburyport High School Wall Of Fame Committee is accepting nominations for the 2012 year. Those interested may send nominations to the Newburyport High, attention Pat McBride, before the June 1 deadline.

Golf

The 13th annual Clipper Classic will be at Apple Hill Golf Course in Kingston, N.H., July 13. Registration will begin at 7 a.m. with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. The cost of the tournament will be $125 per person. Included is a breakfast of coffee and doughnuts, 18 holes of golf with cart, longest drive, closest to the pin contests, and putting contest, 50/50 hole, registration gift, various handouts and lunch at the Galley Hatch. Field Hockey

Amesbury Youth Field Hockey Skills and Drills Clinic will run on Tuesdays, June 26 to July 31 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Amesbury Sports Park. The clinic is open to all local students entering grades 3 to 9. The rate is $100 per player. An equipment pack will also be available for purchase at Amesbury Skate and Sport Shop. Softball

Amesbury Girls Youth Softball League is holding sign-ups for the 2012 season. Girls from Amesbury and South Hampton who are in grades 3 through 8 are invited to play in the league. No experience necessary. Tryouts for girls moving to the Upper Division and new girls joining the league will be March 24. Please go to http://www.agysl.org/ to register. The Newbury Softball League is accepting registrations for girls in grades 3 through 9. This is an instructional league and players can expect to play in all games. There are 2 to 3 games per week plus practice time from the end of April to the second week of June. Registration fee is $100 for the first child in the family and $90 for the second child and $80 for the third child. Email newburysoftballreg@gmail.com if interested.

Soccer

Seacoast United is receiving applications for teams for its 2012 Nike Indoor Cup to be held at the indoor facility in Hampton, N.H. This is open to all U11 through U14 clubs within the region. Minimizing the amount of age groups participating allows the Seacoast United staff to accept both Premier and Travel teams and create separate divisions for each. Every team that is accepted into the tournament is guaranteed four games of 25 minutes each. Amesbury Youth Soccer is offering two spring clinics for ages 4 to 7. The first Kickin' It clinic will introduce skills to ages 4 to 7. The second will be for second-graders only. Join Nancy McCarthy for her next Couch to 5K Beginner Running program starting April 7 at 8 a.m. This is a nine-week program to train for the inaugural Derek Hines Flag Day Race, which will be held on June 14. Hockey

Newburyport Youth Hockey League will have registration for the 2012-2013 season March 19 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Graf Rink. Registration will also remain open online at ww.nyhl.org. After March 31, online registration will close until after tryouts are completed. Newburyport Youth Hockey is hosting a fundraising event March 17 from 1 to 3 p.m., when the Boston Bruins Alumni team will play against coaches of Newburyport Youth Hockey at the Graf Rink. Tickets can be purchased at the gate or online at www.nyhl.org. The ticket prices are $10 for an adult and $5 for children.

Football

Spring registration for Newburyport Youth Flag Football, a member of NFL Flag Football, has opened online registration for Newburyport and all local towns. Register at www.syffl.com. Baseball

The Newburyport High Baseball Alumni Association is having a fundraiser raffle for a grand prize of $5,000. The second prize is $100, and there will be two other $50 prizes. Tickets are $50 each, with a total of 250 being sold. The drawing will be April 14 at William Pettingell Park after the first Newburyport home game against Hamilton-Wenham. Tickets are available from coach Steve Malenfant or assistant coach Rob Daigle or one of our players at NHS. Tickets are also available at the Newburyport Pitching and Catching school March 16 at 5 p.m. You need not be present to win. Little League

Amesbury Little League Baseball has opened sign-ups for the 2012 season. Kids ages 5 to 12 from Amesbury and South Hampton can register online at www.amesburylittleleague.org/registration. The player's birthday must be between May 1, 1999, and May 1, 2007. Currently, early registration is $85 per player with a family maximum of $170 per family. Registrations after March 1 will be considered late and registration costs will be $100 per player, with a family maximum of $200. No registrations after March 18 will be accepted.
