Softball/Baseball

Registration is open for the Amesbury Girls Youth Softball League spring season. This program is open for all girls in grades 3-8 who are residents of Amesbury and South Hampton. For more information and to register online go to www.agysl.org. Volunteers are needed for coaching, fundraising and league operations.

Amesbury Little League registration is now open. There are five divisions: T-Ball (age 5); Single-A: Instructional baseball with coaches pitching (ages 6-7); Double-A: Instructional baseball with youth pitchers (age 8); Triple-A: Competitive baseball with youth pitchers (ages 9-10); and the Majors (ages 11-12). The registration fee is $90 per child for A through Majors; T-Ball is $45 per child. Family maximum is $180. Parent volunteers are needed for coaching, fundraising and league operations. YWCA Triathlon

The YWCA/Tough Warrior Princesses 4th Annual Triathlon will be held on Sunday, March 23, and will include a 10-minute lap swim, a 25-minute indoor spin ride and a 1.5-mile run on the picturesque Newburyport rail trail. Registration is $45, and for more information contact Ilene Harnch-Grady at 978-465-9922, ext 13.

Hockey

The Ice Cats Youth Girls Hockey club is holding tryouts this week, and girls ages 8 to 14 are encouraged to try out. The program is open to people from all communities, and practices and games will be held weekly at local rinks around the area. Tryouts will be held at the Kasabuski Rink in Saugus on March 12 for U10 . There is a $150 tryout fee, and anyone with questions should contact Jeff at JLveglia@comcast.net.

The Newburyport Youth Hockey League will be holding tryouts for the 2014-15 season between March 11-13. Tryouts will be held for Mites from 6-7 p.m. on March 11-12; for Squirts from 7-8 p.m. on March 11-12; for PeeWees from 8-9 p.m. on March 11 and from 7-8 p.m. on March 13; and for Bantams from 8-9 p.m. on March 12-13.
