Pentucket 6th grade girls team wins River Valley Championship

Youth Basketball

The Pentucket 6th grade River Valley team won the 6A Division tournament championship this past weekend with a 44-27 win over Nashua, N.H.

The team will now head down to Foxboro for the 2014 Massachusetts State Tournament.

The Pentucket team includes Casey Hunt, Hannah Lambert, Amanda Drislane, Anna Wyner, Caleigh Beaton, Gina D’Agostino, Talia Beech, Emily Webster, Angelica Hurley, Angelina Yacubacci and Emily Meisner. The coaches are Joe Torrisi and Terry Beaton.

The Newburyport fourth grade boys basketball team has advanced to the Final Four of the Eastern Travel Basketball League playoffs, which will be played this weekend at Salem State College. The Clippers entered the tournament as the No. 2 seed after a successful regular season campaign against teams throughout the North Shore and metro Boston.

Youth Hockey

The Triton Peewee A team defeated Agawam 2-0 to win the championship at Larry Fournier Tournament this past Sunday.

The team included Emma Houlihan, Cam Gilroy, Tanner Holt, Carlos Jones, Dani White, Gabrielle Lowry, Mike Connelly, Dylan Karpenko, Alex Sharpe, Cayla Greenleaf, Peter Drew, Mackenzie Hickey, Brileigh Penniman, Anna Behringer, Duncan MacDonald and Chris Sanborn.
