---- — No New Englands for Triton cheerleaders

The Triton varsity cheerleading team caught an unlucky break this week after an athlete reportedly suffered an injury that will keep the team from competing at New Englands this weekend, according to athletic director Sean McInnis.

Regardless, McInnis said the Division III State Champions will still get to compete at Nationals, which is being held down at Disney World in April.

Triton previously qualified for New Englands after placing first at both the Division III North regional competition and at the Division III State Championships.

Boyle headed to Nationals

Another Triton athlete who is going to Nationals is wrestler Mark Boyle, who will be competing in the NHSCA High School National Wrestling Championships in Virginia Beach next weekend.

Boyle, who won the Division III State Championship at 182 pounds and recently placed 3rd at All-States, is 51-6 on the year and holds the school’s all-time record for most wins in a career with 158.

MacRae victorious in Plymouth debut

Newburyport native Connor MacRae, a freshman on the Plymouth State baseball team, recorded his first career win on Tuesday afternoon by pitching the Panthers to a 3-1 win over NYU-Poly.

MacRae allowed just three hits, two walks and one unearned run in seven innings of action. He also struck out eight in the complete game victory, finishing the game with three straight strikeouts in the seventh to close out the win.
