Registration is open for the Amesbury Girls Youth Softball League spring season. This program is open for all girls in grades 3-8 who are residents of Amesbury and South Hampton. For more information and to register online go to www.agysl.org. Volunteers are needed for coaching, fundraising and league operations.
Amesbury Little League registration is now open. There are five divisions: T-Ball (age 5); Single-A: Instructional baseball with coaches pitching (ages 6-7); Double-A: Instructional baseball with youth pitchers (age 8); Triple-A: Competitive baseball with youth pitchers (ages 9-10); and the Majors (ages 11-12). The registration fee is $90 per child for A through Majors; T-Ball is $45 per child. Family maximum is $180. Parent volunteers are needed for coaching, fundraising and league operations. The Newburyport Pioneer League will be training interested parties as umpires for the upcoming spring 2014 baseball season. Any individual interested in umping this season must be at least 14 years of age as of April 30. Training will take place either Saturday or Sunday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon (with a few exceptions) beginning March 15. Anyone who is interested can contact email@example.com.
The YWCA/Tough Warrior Princesses 4th Annual Triathlon will be held on Sunday, March 23, and will include a 10-minute lap swim, a 25-minute indoor spin ride and a 1.5-mile run on the Newburyport rail trail. The Salisbury Parks and Recreation Commission is holding its The Tortoise and Hare 10K Race on Saturday, April 19, at 11 a.m. at Lions Park in Salisbury. The race also features a Kids Fun Run, a Kids 1-mile race prior to the start of the race and a 3-Mile walk that will start as soon as the runners are jogging down the Ghost Trail. The post-race includes music, popcorn, kids games and a fun run for children. To register, go to active.com.
Rage Wrestling begins April 14. Sessions will be held on Monday and Wednesday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. (for 4th- to 7th-graders) and 6:30 to 8 p.m. (for 8th- to 12th-graders). The program’s goal is to educate and develop competitive wrestlers in grades 4-12. Club participants develop fundamentals of wrestling, good sportsmanship, honesty and respect for their coaches and fellow teammates. Spring registration for the 2014 Newburyport Youth Flag Football, a member of NFL Flag Football, has opened online registration. Register at www.syffl.com. Limited space is available for ages 5/6, 7/8, 9-11 and 12-15, and teams are coed. Games for ages 5-15 are all played in Newburyport beginning in April. The Triton Boys Basketball Clinic will run from July 14-17 from 9:30 to 1:30 at Triton Regional High School. Players will have an opportunity to experience the growing tradition of Triton Basketball and benefit from one-on-one interaction from the team’s players and staff. The 32nd Annual Northeast Quarterback/Receiver Football Clinic will run from July 11-13 and will be held at The Governor’s Academy in Byfield. The cost for the program is $470 to be a resident, $370 to be a day participant and $405 to be an extended day participant.
