Coach: Ed Gaudiano
Last year’s record: 15-3
Key returning players: Tyler Matses, sr.; Drew Bourdeau, jr.; Nick Mombello, sr.; Matt Kelleher, so.; Alex Buckley, sr.; Mike Shay, so.; Dillon Guthro, jr.; Rob Cataldo, sr.; Jared Healey, jr.
Newcomers: Jared Bradbury, jr.; Nick Federico, so.; Peter Greene, so.; George Pantelis, sr.; Brendon Barreclough, so.; J.J. Bajko, so.
Strengths: Defense. The entire defensive group returns along with goalie Dillon Guthro.
Concerns: Find a group of offensive middies, and one attackman.
Coach’s outlook: “We should be solid on defense to start the season. Offensively, we’re looking to work new players in. Replacing Sam Francis, who is injured, will be hard to do. We have a competitive group of kids who should be in every game.”
First game: April 10 at Ipswich
Coach: Sean Parsons
Last year’s record: 10-9
Key returning players: Luke Packer, sr.; Travis Kneeland, sr.; Joe Roucco, sr.; Andrew Sheerin, jr.
Newcomers: Jake Gilbert, so.; Max Madden, so.; Will McCaffrey, jr.
Strengths: Experience. Parsons’ system has been in place for a year.
Concerns: Participation numbers have dropped.
Coach’s outlook: “Even though our numbers are low, we have a group of athletes on the team this year. Everyone can play their position very well, and most of them are three-sport athletes, so being in shape isn’t going to be a problem. But our goals are simple: Make the tournament and to have double digit wins again this season. Our magic number is obviously nine to make the tournament, but our goal number is 14.”
First game: Today vs. Marblehead
