The Newburyport boys cross-country team placed seventh at the Division 2 All-State Championships. After All-State champion Nick Carleo, Newburyport received top-100 finishes from Joe Molvar (64th, 16:02.2), Tyler Newfell (70th, 16:06.7), Tim Englehart (90th, 16:14.83) and Peter Conway (9th, 16:17.2).

The Amesbury boys and girls teams also qualified for the All-State Meet. The Amesbury girls placed 16th, led by Julia Shorter (24th, 18:07.9) and Sam Stone (98th, 19:46.18). The Amesbury boys placed 19th, led by Jim Stone (107th, 16:26.5).

“This was truly an amazing season for these runners,” Amesbury coach Ernie Bissaillon said. “It’s the most rewarding season I have been part in all of my years of coaching. I couldn’t be any prouder of them.”

Triton had runners compete in the All-State Meet. Sophomore Maddie Quigley (32nd, 18:29) and senior captain Liz Willmonton (44th, 18:38) finished their seasons.

“I thought it was a fitting end to a great four-year career for Liz and a great statement about the future for Maddie,” Triton coach Joe Colbert said. “There were 180 runners in the race, and Maddie placing that high as a 10th-grader is a promising sign of things to come.”

Pentucket junior Alex Demeule also competed, placing 52nd in 15:53.8.
