Niko Edwards (Georgetown) has been named captain of the Hebron Academy (Hebron, Maine) football team less than a year after he tore his ACL, MCL and meniscus in his right knee during his senior season as the Georgetown High quarterback. In Hebron’s season-opening victory over Tilton Academy Saturday, Edwards connected on 8 of 12 passes, including four touchdowns. Edwards is wearing No. 22, just as he did as a senior at Georgetown.

Running documentary in Port

Film director Robin Hauser Reynolds is bringing her documentary, “Running for Jim,” the story of record-breaking high school running coach Jim Tracy and his battle with Lou Gehrig’s disease, to Newburyport on Saturday. The award-winning documentary will play at the Newburyport Film Festival at 1 p.m. Hauser Reynolds expects the Newburyport High and St. John’s Prep cross-country teams to attend. All net proceeds from the film will go to an ALS charity. For tickets, go to

Amesbury’s Hall induction

Amesbury will induct its first Hall of Fame class on Thursday night. Those being honored are Jerry Mondalto, Tony Tassinari, Joey DesRoches, Kristy Gleason, Larry Moran Jr., Leo Dupere, Nancy Klein, Pam Gleason and Tino Bertolini.

The event has two parts, both of which are open to the public. The first half, a luncheon, begins Thursday at noon. Tickets for the luncheon are $30. The second part, the induction, takes place at Amesbury High School, at 6:30 p.m. That event is free. For more information and to order tickets, call Sam Wilmot at 617-312-6514.

Triton’s philanthropy

The undefeated Triton football team made a donation of $22,000 to the Dana-Farber radiothon, held the last week of August in the Triton’s football team’s name. The team has been invited to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute Wednesday for a tour of the facilities and a firsthand look at the impact the money donated has on patients and research. Triton’s next fundraising event is titled “Triton Points for Dana-Farber.” The entire team will collect pledges before the Triton vs. Newburyport game Oct. 11. All proceeds will go to The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund.
