Govs run winning streak to 22

The Governor’s Academy football team ran its winning streak to 22 games Saturday with a 32-13 victory over St. Paul’s. The Govs trailed 13-6 in the second half before scoring the final 20 points. Amesbury’s Brandon Lopez had a 5-yard touchdown run to put the team ahead for good in the fourth quarter.

Clancy’s record weekend

Newburyport High alumnus Joe Clancy broke his own Merrimack College school record for completions (51) in his team’s 48-41 loss to reigning Northeast-10 Conference champion New Haven Saturday. Both sides combined for over 1,000 yards of total offense (1,007), with Merrimack outgaining the Chargers by a 600-407 margin. Clancy finished just shy of his single-game record in passing yards, going 51 for 71 for 538 yards and no interceptions. He threw three touchdown passes and rushed for another.
