Leaf-peeping on the run

Estimated 2,000 runners log 13.1 miles for Green Stride race

Eric McDonald, 23, of Groveland finished eighth overall at 1:09:20.

“I did a lot better than I expected,” said McDonald. “The toughest part was trying to battle the wind out there. The lead pack had to be a pack of five or six guys. They opened it up early, but some of them fell back and I kept reeling them in. Then they would open it back up again. But I was happy with the way they ran and the way I ran.”

McDonald’s co-worker at the Greater Boston Running Company of Andover, Tom Poland, 25, decided to run the Green Stride at the last minute and finished 10th overall at 1:13:34.

“The course is beautiful,” said Poland. “There’s great foliage and you get to run along the water for a while.”
