Marblehead 8, Newburyport 1
Newburyport fell to Marblehead yesterday 8-1 despite eight strikeouts from Victoria Allman. Despite the loss, Carley Siemasko had two singles and an RBI for the Clippers. Meghan Stanton also had a strong day with a triple.
Pentucket 11, Haverhill 3
Kassidy Kennefick scored two runs for the Sachems on their way to a big win over Haverhill. Tyler Feeney also scored two runs, while batting in two more. Nikki O’Rourke was included in the scoring fun, batting in two runs and hitting a double. Sophomore Maddy Binding had two walks on the day and also her first varsity hit. Carley Desjardins was lights out for Pentucket, pitching a complete-game and striking out three.
Newburyport 4, Amesbury 1
Chris Kirkpatrick and James Kipp each won their singles matches in straight sets for the Clippers. Sebastien Basson lost third singles in two close sets. Jacob Alvarez de Toledo Schlanger and Jake Shactman won in three sets for first doubles, while first year players Peter Blangiardi and Nicholas Cutrone won their first varsity match in second doubles, 6-3, 6-1. Ryan Gabriel and Christian Caswell are two new players who are expected to be strong additions to Newburyport in future matches.
Triton 10, Pentucket 9 (OT)
The Vikings pulled out the win against the Sachems with strong offensive contributions from Katelyn Muldowney (4 goals), Meghan Muldowney (2 goals), Nicole Sullivan (2), and Jess Greeney (2). Emma Cashman was also strong for Triton in net, recording five saves.
