A nine-week running camp for beginners to train for the Lt. Derek Hines 5K Flag Day race on June 14 will begin this Saturday, April 12, at 8 a.m. at the Fuller Field Track on Low Street. There is no charge for this program, which is coached Nancy McCarthy and Sue Hines. Participants will meet each Saturday morning and again on Wednesday evening. The program only takes about 20 minutes three times a week. The Salisbury Parks and Recreation Commission is holding its The Tortoise and Hare 10K Race on Saturday, April 19, at 11 a.m. at Lions Park in Salisbury. The race also features a Kids Fun Run, a Kids 1-mile race prior to the start of the race and a 3-Mile walk that will start as soon as the runners are jogging down the Ghost Trail. Nor’easters baseball will hold registration at Eiras Park in Rowley on April 13 from 5 to 6 p.m. Workouts and assessments will be on April 27, May 4, 11 and 18. All players will be placed on the Sr. Legion, Jr. Legion and Sr. Babe Ruth teams in the area. Eligible players are high school players born 1995 or after. Players must live in the Amesbury, Georgetown, Ipswich, Newburyport, Pentucket and Triton school districts. Rage Wrestling begins April 14. Sessions will be held on Monday and Wednesday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. (for 4th- to 7th-graders) and 6:30 to 8 p.m. (for 8th- to 12th-graders). The program’s goal is to educate and develop competitive wrestlers in grades 4-12. Club participants develop fundamentals of wrestling, good sportsmanship, honesty and respect for their coaches and fellow teammates.
