Pentucket 10, Saugus 2
The Pentucket softball team got a big 10-2 win over Saugus over the weekend, powering past the Sachems on the strength of a big six-run inning in the third.
Pentucket got big performances from nearly everyone who got up to bat, as every Sachem in the starting lineup recorded at least one hit, with seven getting at least two. Kassidy Kennefick and Maddie Binding each had three hits for Pentucket, with Kennefick going three for four with two runs and Binding three for three with two runs. Tyler Feeney went two for four with one run and 3 RBIs, Mary Kate Corrado went two for four with 2 RBIs, Allison Knowles went two for three with 2 RBIs, and Sarah Stewart, Sydney Snow and Jenny Nelson each had one RBI.
Carley Desjardins got the win for Pentucket, pitching the full seven innings while allowing one run on nine hits with four strikeouts and two walks.
Pentucket 8, Haverhill 1
The Pentucket boys lacrosse team picked up its second win of the year, taking down Haverhill 8-1 at Trinity Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Sachems took a 3-0 lead going into halftime, and then stretched that to a 6-1 lead by the end of the third. The star of the show for Pentucket was Nick Arcadipane, who recorded four goals and three assists for the Sachems, and the others who got on the scoresheet were Sam Colombo (two goals), Jeff Porter (one goal, one assist), Brendan Sullivan (one goal, one assist) and Connor Beaton (one assist).
With the win, Pentucket is now 2-0 on the season, and the Sachems will next take the field on Tuesday when they face Manchester Essex on the road at 3:45 p.m.
Pentucket 10, Haverhill 8
Tied at eight with seven minutes to play, the Pentucket girls lacrosse team scored two late goals to beat Haverhill 10-8 for the team’s first win of the season. Now 1-2 on the year, Pentucket will be back in action tomorrow when they face Manchester Essex at 3:45 p.m.
