Pentucket falls in first round of Division 2 North tourney

Field Hockey

Lynnfield 4, Pentucket 1

The 10-seeded Sachems (9-9-1) fell to seventh-seed Lynnfield (12-4-3) in the opening round of the Division 2 North tournament. Olivia Duggan scored the lone goal for Pentucket. The teams played to a scoreless tie in the first half.

“It was a tremendous effort,” said Pentucket coach Ruth Beaton. “It was much closer than the score would indicate. It was back and forth — not many shots. I was very pleased with what we got out of the kids this season.”

Duggan, Angelica Arrendondo, Tori Spofford, Ellen Gulezien, Jenna Raimondi, Megan Haley, Audra St. Hilaire, Shawna O’Hearn and Haley Hemerstrom played their final field hockey game at Pentucket.
