Running

The Frosty Knuckle 5K will be Feb. 16 at 10 a.m. at the Hobo Cafe in Salisbury Beach. The registration closing date on Active.com will be Feb. 15 at 1 p.m. The cost is $20 pre-registration or $25 on race day.

The Winner’s Circle Running Club Boston Training Run Series starts Dec. 16. Eight runs of increasing distances will be held at two-week intervals, spanning the Boston training time frame. To make sure you don’t get bored, each run will be hosted by different WCRC members at different locations. All WCRC members are invited to participate, whether or not you are running Boston. Shorter courses will also be designed for each session for those not interested in marathon distances. The first training run of 10-12 miles (December 16) will be hosted by Mike McCormick in Newburyport. Hosts are needed for Jan. 13, Jan. 27, Feb. 10, Feb. 24, March 10 and March 22. Soccer

Registration for Newburyport Youth Soccer’s spring season is open for all divisions (Tots, U6, U8, U10). Registration closes Jan. 1. Register at www.newburportsoccer.com/.

Learn to Skate

The Graf Rink, in cooperation with the Merrimack Valley Skating Club, is accepting applications for its fall Learn to Skate and Tiny Tots programs. Classes will run on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Please visit www.grafrink.com for more detailed information such as class times and cost.

Newburyport Youth Hockey is running a holiday special accepting registrations for its Learn to Skate Program at a cost of $75. The program is open to boys and girls from ages of 3 to 9 and runs through the end of February. Classes are Sunday mornings from 10 to 10:50 a.m. at the Graf Rink. Radio

WNBP Radio 106.1 FM will air the Local Sports Talk Show Friday at 6 p.m. Host Pete Kelley will interview guests from the Newburyport girls cross-country team: coach Don Hennigar, and runners Sarah Jacqz, Erin Carroll, Kelly Conway and Liz Fiascone.

Soccer

Seacoast United Storm will host their first annual Winter Indoor Tournament to celebrate the close of its first year in operation. The tournament will take place at the Phanzone in Hampstead, N.H. Dec. 27 for U8 Coed, U9 and U10 Boys, and Dec. 28 for U12 Boys and U11/U12 Girls. Entry fees are $250 per team and registration is available online at www.seacoastunitedstorm.com.
