Red Sox' Doubront gives up 1 hit in first start

(Continued)

Terry Doyle won in relief, giving up one run in 2 1-3 innings.

NOTES: David Ortiz completed a base-running drill yesterday. It was the third time he had done a base-running drill this spring training as he comes back from an Achilles injury that limited him to 90 games last season. He has yet to run on consecutive days, a hurdle Farrell said Ortiz will have to clear before getting into a game. ... RHP Daniel Bard, who has not pitched in game since Feb. 25, threw 18 pitches in a one-inning simulated game. ... The Red Sox made their first round of roster cuts. LHP Drake Britton was optioned to Double-A, and INF-OF Justin Henry and SS Deven Marrero were reassigned to minor league camp. ... Rays DH Luke Scott said he does not think he will be out very long because of his tight left hamstring, which forced him out of Sunday’s game.
