Govs soccer team comes back from 2-0 deficit in win

Governor’s Academy 3, Groton 2

The Govs (9-2-2 overall, 6-1-2 ISL) overcame a 2-0 first-half deficit in the win. Georgetown resident Mattea Preece scored a goal on an assist from Katie Barrand. Kendall Ham and Barrand scored goals in the second half. Tricia Pollock had an assist. Keeper Tayla O’Connor made several key saves in the second half. Newburyport resident Alaina Robie, a freshman, is also a member of the Governor’s Academy soccer team.


North Shore Catholic Championships

Immaculate Conception School eighth-grader Cam Leonard captured a North Shore Catholic Elementary School championship with a time of 9:25 on the 1.7-mile course. Leonard is the first ICS runner in school history to win the North Shore Catholic championship. Jack Bowers also finished fifth overall to help the ICS boys place second as a team, the school’s top finish in program history.
