Triathlon

The 4th annual Dam Triathlon will come to Amesbury on Saturday, July 12. The race will take place at Lake Gardner starting at 8 a.m., after which participants will take a half-mile swim across the lake, a 13-mile bike ride through Amesbury and some of the surrounding towns, and finally a 3.1 mile run from Woodsom Farm back to Lake Gardner. Registration is $65 per person and $180 for a team, and for more information, visit www.bnseventmanagement.com.

Football

The 32nd Annual Northeast Quarterback/Receiver Football Clinic will run from July 11-13 and will be held at The Governor’s Academy in Byfield. The cost for the program is $470 to be a resident, $370 to be a day participant and $405 to be an extended-day participant. Applications are now being accepted and can be received by calling 800-433-6060 or by emailing northeastfootballclinic@ussportcamps.com. Field Hockey

The Governor’s Academy will host the 39th annual Northeast Field Hockey Academy, directed by Shannon Hlebichuk, head coach of the UMass Lowell field hockey team. There will be two programs, one running from July 13-16 for girls ages 10-18, and another from July 14-16 for girls ages 8-10. Overnight, extended day and day camp options are available for the older kids, and a half-day option is available for the younger ones. NEF Golf Open

The Newburyport Education Foundation will be holding its annual Golf Open tournament on Monday, July 21, at 11 a.m. The tournament will be held at the Renaissance Golf Club in Haverhill, and all funds raised will go to benefit the Newburyport Public Schools. Slow Bike Race

The Coastal Trails Coalition’s Slow Bike Race will take place on Wednesday, July 31 starting at 6 p.m. The race will be held at Brown Square in Newburyport and the winner will be the participant who crosses the finish line last. Prizes will also be offered to the entrant who raises the most money and for best costume. Registration is $25 and all proceeds will go towards the maintenance of the local rail trail.
